The Sensual Experience

Depression can be hard thing to live with. You want to go out, watch a movie, visit friends, or family but you never have the energy to do so. Feelings of being unmotivated creep up, thinking you’re procrastinating when you’re really not, and everything just seems mentally doom and gloom but deep down you know it’s not. Depression can affect many things in a persons life, how they view the world, their connections with others, or how they view themselves. It’s a very hard thing to live with, but it can get easier.

As someone who lives with depression here are five tips on how to get back out there and explore the world while you heal.

1. Photography

2. Solo Dates

3. Book Store

4. Finding a passion

5. Going for a walk

Photography

Photography is a great way to step outside and venture out because it allows you to go into environments you probably wouldn’t go into for amazing pictures. You can make new friends or meet new people that have similar interests as you. But if you’re more of an introvert or not really into finding someone to hang out with, it can be a great opportunity to see the world or get out of the comfort of your own home and enjoy a solo trip.

Solo Dates

Solo dates can be a nice change of pace. It’s a great way to learn to feel comfortable by yourself and find out what you’re truly interested in. It’s insightful because it allows you to dive deep into who you are and what you like.

Book store

Going to a bookstore can be a really cute and fun way to get out of your head. It allows you create a new world by being immersed into a book. It’s a beautiful escape from everyday life and the mundane things in reality.

Finding a passion

Everyone deserves to have something they are passionate about, whether it’s being an artist, writing a novel, starting a family, or being a chief. Everyone needs something that brings them joy throughout their lives, and finding a passion is the perfect avenue. This could be a great way to take those negative thoughts and get them out of your head or using that negativity in a more constructive way.

Going for a walk

Sometimes people need to clear their heads and get a little bit of fresh air. The best way to do that is to go for a walk or jog around a park. It’s inviting, you get to sweat out any tension, lower stress levels, and clear your mind of any negative thoughts you might have or come up with a better solution on how to prevent them.

Staying positive is not always an easy thing to do. It takes time and dedication, changes to an otherwise non beneficial routine, and determination to know that depression does not last forever. You can change your life, your circumstances, and the way you perceive the world one step at time. Nothing is an overnight process. Take baby steps until you realize your milestones and move forward with grace. You are beautiful and things will change for you with time.

Stay Positive!
