Authenticity is hard to come by these days. It seems like no one wants to be original anymore, everyone wants to blend in and are too afraid to stand out. But not me, I would rather stand and be who I am then try to fit into a mold society tries to create. What about you? Would you stand out or blind in to societal norms?
What Is Authenticity In A Nutshell?
Authenticity in a nutshell in my opinion is about being true to yourself, not letting others define who you are or who you should be. It’s about standing in your truth and knowing what works for you at what doesn’t. Whether it’s from how you dress, to how you look, what you enjoy, or what your favorite genre of music is, it should be celebrated and not downplayed because those things are different then the status quo. Be who you are and celebrate every aspect of it because you deserve it, not for any other reason than for simply being you.
How Can I be More Authentic?
The best way to be more authentic is by being yourself when you step outside or walk into a room. I know that’s easier said than done, especially when you’re more heavily judged by staying with the crowd or not “causing problems” because you’re inherently different. But being true to who you are, your likes and dislikes will ultimately help you attract the right people or the people that have your best interests at heart.
Some of the best ways to be more authentic is by standing your ground on your beliefs, choose and wear the clothing that makes your feel more comfortable and confident in who you are, speak your truth wherever you are, and lastly, learn to be proud of the things that make you different from the average because I’m sure their are other people out there just like you that wish they had someone to bond with on those differences or would stand up for those things the way you do.
Why Does Authenticity Look Different For Everyone?
Authenticity will look different for everyone simply because no one is exactly the same. Are favorite foods, taste in music, how we perceive life are all different in retrospect because our lives are different. So what might be true to you in how you live might be false or different for someone else. Those differences is what makes up special and should not be something you feel ashamed of but be proud of who you are. Don’t let life watery down what makes you who you are. Remember, you are not responsible for someone else’s comfortability but only your own.
Stay Authentic!
