The Sensual Experience

I saw online somewhere where a woman stated makeup was actually a sacred thing and it made me curious. Was makeup actually a sacred practice?

Of course people interpret wearing makeup differently from anywhere of a shallow nature to something with depth, it really just depends on the beholder. But for me and my beliefs, I think it can be sacred. Yes, makeup can be used to cover up imperfections and in some cases people use it to hide behind who they truly are, but for me it can be considered an art. You don’t need makeup to feel beautiful, but it can enhance what you already have.

When we think about ancient times, makeup was seen as an enhancement and used for both women and men, and when it was created from nature it could (some might disagree) help with clearing of the skin or moisturizing it. It was also used in plays and things of art forms for creativity, which in some ways still is. And it was used to attract a mate or the opposite sex.

Overall, I think wearing makeup can be a sacred act or showing that you care about your appearance, not for the validation of others, but for the validation of oneself. It doesn’t have to be something you wear in order to be beautiful but it can be a tool, when used in a loving way, to add to someone’s life.

What do you think, would you consider makeup to be sacred? Leave a comment down below.

Happy Makeup-ing!
